SUMMARY

The Residential Aide Manager supervises the Residential Aide staff and coordinates consumer activities. The position requires that the individual serve as part of the clinical therapeutic team to provide comprehensive services to consumers and their children. The position functions include but are not limited to personnel management, staff scheduling, and assistance to consumers to ensure a therapeutic environment in which productive, meaningful, and culturally appropriate services can be provided.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of assigned components.
  • Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely and accurate manner as required.
  • Maintains consumer confidentiality.
  • Attends all staff meetings, training meetings, and in-service meetings.
  • Maintains CPR/First Aid and Respect training yearly.
  • The incumbent of this position must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and consumers.
  • Assist with monitoring of consumers on and off the unit. Facilitates groups as needed within the scope of facilities or knowledge.
  • Schedules, supervises, and evaluates residential aides.
  • Conducts orientation and training for all new RA and Cook staff members on relevant policies and procedures, including vehicle, emergency, universal precautions, and health and safety rules.
  • Provides file documentation in accordance with established standards, and submits reports (i.e., required
  • Plans and assists with social and recreational activities scheduled during shift, in cooperation with the treatment team/staff.
  • Monitoring and approving staff timesheets, including overtime documentation.
  • Trains and/or assists with consumer random drug testing: urine analysis, breathalyzer, and mouth swabs.
  • Attends clinical case staffing and functions as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Completes progress notes as needed in EHR.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and CARF, or Federal standards/codes for building, fire, and safety.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and substance abuse treatment.
  • Knowledge of the current state of Alaska Community Care Licensing regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Associate’s degree in a related field, and 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with residential consumers.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a substance abuse treatment facility.
  • Valid Alaska Driver License.
  • For company insurance purposes, must be 25 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain State of Alaska Substance Abuse Counselor Technician certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within (30) days of hire.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience working with residential consumers, two (2) years of supervisory experience, and four (4) years of experience in a substance abuse treatment facility.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The office is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. The work requires local travel between various program components of FNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of consumer confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.

 

SPECIFICATIONS

Supervision Received:

This position receives direct supervision from the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor; however, the incumbent is expected to effectively perform day-to-day activity as denoted within the job description. Work will be monitored through weekly meetings, monthly reports, and regular communication with the Supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements and the general policies and procedures of FNA.

 

Supervision Exercised:

Supervises all Programs’ Residential Aides.

Driving Requirements:

This position will require you to frequently (or incidentally) drive both an FNA-owned vehicle and your personal vehicle for FNA business. Per FNA’s automotive insurance policy, to drive an FNA-owned vehicle, an individual must be at least 21 years of age. To drive an FNA-owned vehicle with consumers in the vehicle, an individual must be at least 25 years of age. Consumers may only be transported in FNA-owned vehicles and may not be transported by an employee in a personal vehicle.

 

This position requires eligibility for FNA automotive insurance as demonstrated by a current Alaska Driver’s License, current driving history and proof of personal liability insurance.

 

Position Impact:

Impact at the program level is high. The program’s level of compliance with program standards is directly affected by the effective performance of duties, especially as they relate to providing services to divisions and programs.

Continued employment status will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background investigation and the pre-employment drug testing process. Where required, continued employment status (post-job offer) will be contingent upon the employee providing certification of annual tuberculosis (TB) screening and medical certification that the employee does not, because of infectious or communicable disease, pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of program participants or others in the workplace.
